TSO launches new edition of motorcycling guide

TSO guide

A new edition of ‘The Official DVSA Guide to Riding – the essentials skills’ has been launched by the Driver and Vehicle Standards Agency’s official publisher, TSO. Whether a learner, an experienced motorcyclist or an instructor, the book helps riders develop safe skills for life.

The publication includes information on attitude and behaviour, as well as important riding concepts such as counter-steering and negotiating bends.

Key features include:

  • Riding in all conditions – expert advice on riding safely and confidently at night, in bad weather conditions, on motorways and through roadworks.
  • The Highway Code – fully updated to align with The Official Highway Code.
  • New motorcycle technology section – the new Advanced Rider Assistance Systems (ARAS) section shows riders how to use technology effectively and safely.

TSO describes the book as a key source material for the motorcycle theory test, while more experienced riders can sharpen their skills with information on essential riding techniques, including overtaking safely, using limit points, defensive riding and manoeuvring. All riders can learn how to respond in an emergency – gaining advice on first aid that can be given at the scene of an incident. Find out more about publication on the Safe Driving for Life website.
