The Road Safety Trust is seeking new Trustees to join the Board

Would you like to make a positive difference to road safety in the UK, and help to reduce death and serious injuries on our roads and streets?
The Road Safety Trust is currently recruiting new members to its Board of Trustees – a governing body which helps to set the charity’s direction, oversee how resources are used and ensure its work makes a lasting difference.
In addition to being an active member of the Board, the Trust is looking for someone who will play a key role on its Audit and Risk Committee, bringing expertise in finance, governance and risk management.
The Road Safety Trust is the UK’s largest independent grant funder of road safety initiatives. It supports research and practical projects that aim to reduce deaths and serious injuries on our roads – funding more than 140 projects since the charity was established in 2014 and awarding nearly £13million in grants.
Role overview
The Road Safety Trust’s Audit and Risk Committee supports the Chair, Chief Executive, Head of Finance and Board of Trustees in overseeing financial reporting, risk, internal controls and governance across the Trust.
As a committee member, you will review accounts, internal and external audit findings, key risks and investment policy, bringing independent judgement and constructive challenge. Day-to-day management remains the responsibility of the executive team.
Role Commitments
The annual commitment includes one risk workshop, at least three Audit and Risk Committee meetings (one in person) and four Board meetings (two in person), with additional time required to prepare for meetings.
The role is unpaid, and necessary travel expenses for Board and Committee meetings are reimbursed. Trustees serve an initial three-year term and may be eligible for re-election in line with the Trust’s governing arrangements.
