UKROEd celebrates International Women’s Day

Today (Sunday 8 March) sees the annual International Women’s Day taking place worldwide.

The event celebrates the social, economic, cultural and political achievements of women. Now in its 115th year, its aims include raising awareness and tackling issues around subjects such as the gender pay gap, lack of representation in leadership roles, gender-based violence, and unequal access to education and opportunities.

This year’s theme is ‘Give to Gain’. It highlights that when people, organisations, and communities give generously, opportunities and support for women increase. This includes areas such as knowledge, resources, infrastructure, visibility, advocacy, education, training, mentoring, or time, contributing to women’s advancement helps create a more supportive environment for everyone.

At UKROEd, we fully support what the day is seeking to achieve. It aligns with our core values of equality, diversity, and inclusion, while the Equality Act 2010 also compels us to ensure that we eliminate both direct and indirect discrimination.

As an organisation we have been recognised for investing in our people and promoting diversity in the workplace. Inclusivity is at the heart of our values, ensuring that the voice of every woman working for and with us is heard and respected – regardless of her role, background, or experience.

This ethos is reflected within our own workforce. Women make-up almost two-thirds of UKROEd’s staff, many of whom have a role within either our Senior Leadership Team or as Business Area leads.

Together, and alongside their male colleagues, they are able to ensure our ongoing commitment to gender equality and women’s empowerment, with policies and practices that promote diversity and inclusion within UKROEd, fostering a supportive work environment where everyone feels valued and respected.

We take the opportunity to thank each and every person who works for and with UKROEd, but especially on International Women’s Day, we thank all the women who drive this organisation towards continued success.
