‘Habits For Life’ campaign aims to improve two-wheeler safety

Surrey RoadSafe has launched an ‘ambitious’ campaign which aims to improve the safety of the county’s community of cyclists and motorcyclists. Between 2022-24, 470 motorcycle riders/pillions and 351 cyclists were killed or seriously injured (KSI) on Surrey’s roads.

These KSI figures have identified a need for greater intervention into the protection of these vulnerable road user groups, especially around the summer months where peaks in data are evident. Speed related KSIs are also significantly higher during the summer period, with 49 KSIs caused due to speed (Jun-Jul 2024).

Surrey RoadSafe will also be running a speed awareness campaign in June and July. The campaign, titled “Habits for Life” speaks to all road users and encourages everyone, whatever their mode of transport, to adopt habits which could save a life. Under the #HabitsForLife campaign will be several sub-campaigns, including cyclists, motorcyclists, motorists, gig economy and speed.

The campaign, which will run until the end of July, will be overseen by Surrey RoadSafe’s growing social media audiences on Facebook and X and further supported by partners and the road safety industry at large.
