THINK! campaign offers new resources for child road safety

The Government’s THINK! campaign has launched two new resources to support children’s safety on the roads: a brand-new road safety guide for parents and educators, and a condensed version of its popular Tales of the Road resource.
THINK! has teamed up with expert online platform, The National College, via their Wake Up Wednesday project to launch the new guide, designed to help parents and educators build children’s road safety skills. The National College is a leading UK platform providing expert-led training and resources for schools, parents, and education professionals.
Through Wake Up Wednesday, they aim to equip adults with the knowledge and tools to stay informed, implement best practice, and better support children on a range of key issues, from online safety to wellbeing and road awareness.
This new guide is relevant for all parents and educators, from early years through to secondary school, offering practical tips to support children as they gain more independence in their journeys. With the continued aim of making roads safer for children, THINK! has also developed a shorter version of its Tales of the Road booklet. The book still contains lots of information, advice and interactive questions for young road users, but in a shorter booklet making it ideal for those looking for a print-friendly version to use in schools, at home or in other road safety education settings.
Targeted at KS1 and KS2 parents and children, the updated booklet remains a key tool in helping children walk, cycle, and travel safely near roads. It includes easy-to-follow advice on crossing safely, understanding road signs, and developing good travel habits. THINK! is encouraging local authorities and other stakeholders to share these resources with networks to help promote safer journeys for children across the UK.
