UKROEd/NPCC Roads Policing Conference to open in Manchester

dusk road

Finishing touches are being made to the first ever UKROEd/NPCC Roads Policing joint National Conference, which takes place at the Radisson Blu Hotel Manchester Airport this Wednesday 12 and Thursday 13 October. If you’ve secured your place then you can look forward to two days of thought-provoking presentations, exciting conversations and some excellent networking opportunities.

Keynote The Conference programme includes what we know will be a memorable and passionate keynote address from Meera Naran MBE, a road safety campaigner and author whose eight-year-old son Dev who was killed in a collision on a smart motorway.

Meera Naran said: “No one should ever feel what we had to feel. “Our eight-year-old little boy didn’t reach home and I don’t want any parent to lose their loved one in such a sudden and tragic way.

“Road deaths are tragic and that’s exactly what I will continue to campaign for – everyone reaching home.”

Other speakers include UKROEd Chief Executive Ruth Purdie OBE, Chief Constable Jo Shiner, Professor Sally Kyd, Dr Helen Wells from Keele University and James Evans from FirstCar.

The line-up of exhibitors promises some great opportunities for networking and business discussions, while there will also be an opportunity to take a closer look at the Project EDWARD road trip car, which will be parked outside the Conference entrance.

The Project EDWARD Week of Action was postponed from its original dates in September and will now take place during the week following the Conference.

The Conference Dinner and Awards will help ensure a brilliant event. We hope to see you there!
