School pupils start in Glasgow speed campaign

Eyes Up, Slow Down, Cross Safely

A new Glasgow campaign is seeking to reduce speeding in residential areas and in the vicinity of schools – an issue that has been described as “particularly worrying”.

The campaign features four Glasgow school pupils, Erin McWhinnie, Eva Boyce, Lillia Gallagher and Bradley Trotter, who are pictured on road safety adverts. The adverts are being emblazoned across the back of buses travelling around the city, urging drivers to slow down and save lives.

They are also being printed in newspapers and appearing on digital displays in the city centre, as well as featuring on local radio stations.

All four pupils are Junior Road Safety Officers (JRSOs) at Our Lady of the Rosary Primary School in Cardonald.

Cllr Ruairi Kelly, Glasgow’s convenor for neighbourhood services and assets, said: “I’m delighted that four Glasgow school pupils are starring in our road safety campaign, as speeding in residential areas and in the vicinity of schools is particularly worrying.”
