You will need access to a suitable device such as a Desktop or Laptop computer with Webcam facility (usually built in modern laptops as standard), a tablet or Smart Phone. You will need enough charge to last approximately 3 hours so have access to charge at a mains supply.
Please have your Photo ID Driving licence or other official photo ID (i.e. Passport) to show the trainer during the registration process.
Please have some paper and a pen, as you will need this during the course, and a soft drink available to help keep you refreshed.
A quiet private environment with no distractions.
We currently run our digital course over the digital platform ZOOM. If you are using a mobile device or tablet you will need to download the free app which is called ‘Zoom Cloud Meetings’ prior to the course.
If the device/software is still supported, it should be compatible. We do recommend you test the system in advance of your course time to avoid any last-minute glitches.
Your course instructor will allow 5 minutes for you to re-join your course.
If you are not successful within this timescale, you will need to contact our office to re book.
We will send you a booking confirmation email with the course joining instructions. A further email will be sent 48 hours prior to your course, with the ZOOM link included. Please check your spam/junk files if you cannot see our email in your Inbox. If you cannot find an email from us, please call us and we will resend it to you. You can join by clicking on the URL hyperlink which will take you direct to the course. Dependent upon the tablet or phone you use, you may need a set of earphones with built in microphone.
You must have a camera facility on the device you use to access the online course. The trainer needs to see that you are present for the entire duration of the course and to also check your ID during registration.
If you have a smart phone which has a camera this can be used. Alternatively, is there anyone in your household who has a device with a camera you can use?
Unfortunately, classroom courses are not available due to COVID-19 and social distancing guidelines. It is not possible to wait until such time. You can be assisted by a friend or family member for the initial set-up for support prior to the course starting you should then be self-sufficient.
If you have no computer access, then subject to any local Covid-19 restrictions in place, you could also arrange to take the course at a family member or friend’s home.
Take a look at some Zoom video tutorials published online, you can find this by searching
www.support.zoom.us
There is good, basic information and assistance available which could well boost your confidence and reduce your concerns about participating in a virtual course.
