You can attend in person to one of our classroom courses or attend an on line course.

How long is the course?

The course is 2.45 hours for Speed Awareness and 3 hours for What’s Driving Us and Motorway. There is a 10-minute break mid-way through.

How are the online courses delivered?

Our courses are delivered via Microsoft Teams. Each course has up to 10 clients and a Presenter. Clients can attend the course from any location where they have internet access.

What equipment will I need to attend the online course?

You will need one of the following: Computer, laptop, Tablet or Mobile phone (Smart phone). Your device must have Internet access, Web camera, Microphone, Speakers or headphones and a stable internet connection. We recommend that you keep your device plugged in during the course or have enough battery charge for at least 3 hours.

You will also need some paper and pen/pencil as you will be encouraged to take notes during the course.

Please visit www.saferroadshumber.com for more detailed information, including how to access our online courses, device user guides and more FAQs.

I’m not very good with computers and have limited technical knowledge?

Don’t worry. Attending an online course is quite straightforward and does not require a lot of technical expertise. We have a dedicated Client Support Team who will be able to assist you by telephone at every stage. Tel 01482 398252. (If needed, a family member can also help you to set up your device at the start of the course).

I’ve booked my course, when will I receive my joining instructions?

You will receive a confirmation e-mail the same day you make your booking. This e-mail will contain all the information you require. If you haven’t received it, please check your spam/junk folders. If you still cannot find it, please call us to resend it. The link to the course will be sent the day before the course.

Is there anything I should do in preparation for the course?

Yes. See our setting up instructions on our website www.saferroadshumber.com/courses.

We also recommend that you test the system in advance of your course time to avoid any last-minute technical issues. The Client Support Team can help you with this.

How do I access my course on the day?

You will receive an e-mail containing a unique link to your course one working day beforehand. Simply click on this link in the 15 min period prior to your course start time.

Do I need anything else?

You will need to show some form of photo ID to the presenter when registering your attendance at the start of the course. ID can include your photo card driving licence, passport, work ID or other form of photo ID with your name on. Any ID must be the original document.

If my equipment fails part-way through the course, will I be able to rebook free of charge?

Yes, you will have the opportunity to try again and rebook free of charge, subject to availability.

Will there be a test during the online course?

There is no specific test, but in order to successfully complete the online course you will be expected to engage fully throughout, as instructed by the Presenter.

Is the course confidential?

Yes. Protecting the confidentiality of our clients is of the utmost importance, therefore you must ensure that nobody other than the course participant can view your screen. We recommend that you undertake the online course in a private room without any distractions.

Can I have an interpreter with me on the course?

Yes.

If English is not your first language, you can have a family member or friend to assist you during the course. Please ensure that you inform us and provide us with their name when booking the course. Please note that any person assisting you must be at least 16yrs of age, preferably a car driver and fluent in speaking (and understanding) both English and the language for which they are interpreting. They will also need to provide photo ID when attending the course with you.

If you have a hearing impairment and require a signer, we will provide a BSL interpreter(s) free of charge. Please let the booking staff member know at the time of booking.

Are your courses fully accessible?

At the time of booking a course with us, we would invite any potential client to identify if they have a special need to help them access and fully participate in a course. All reasonable adjustments will be made to ensure the best experience for all clients. Please contact the booking line to inform us of any special needs.

I do not have childcare provision – can I still attend the online course?

In order for you to concentrate and engage fully, it is a requirement to be able to complete the course in a quiet space. We are offering several courses throughout the day, so maybe consider the best time slot that would match your needs. Ultimately, if you cannot attend and complete the course, then one of the other prosecution options will need to be considered.

What happens if I cannot complete the course before my deadline?

It is our intention to ensure that everyone who accepts an offer of a driver safety course is given every opportunity to complete it.

Some feedback from previous clients on our courses:

“Genuinely thought it was brilliant – really informative and suited my learning style much better than a classroom event”

“I was unsure about doing an online course, but there were no technical issues and it was very convenient doing it at home. Tim relayed the information in a very informative and interesting manner which got everyone engaged”.

“Many thanks for the opportunity for me to take the Speed Awareness course today, I found the course very insightful, informative and indeed entertaining. The host was very good and I liked the convenience of taking the course online as opposed to entering a class room externally off site to complete the course”.

“The course was done in a very professional but also informal way which allowed a good level of user engagement to allow serious points to be delivered in an easy to understand way. I felt confident to share my thoughts with a smaller group in the comfort of my home. The information and sections were delivering key information for all audiences and structured in a simple format”.

“Very well run and informative, excellent presenter (Phil) who was very good at getting across all points in an interesting manner whilst stressing the importance of the issues being raised. Much better than the classroom based course I went on several years ago which I found rather intimidating.”

“I have just completed the course with Vickie and it really did exceed my expectations.  I was engaged throughout due to Vickie’s friendly, humorous approach and this approach worked really well as I learned a number of things that I had forgotten or wasn’t aware of.  Given that it was online Vickie did a great job of keeping the group together and we learned from each other despite not being in the same room.  The time went much quicker than I expected. I really do think that it will have an impact upon my future driving”.
